Panasonic
Panasonic Corporation of North America is one of the latest companies to participate in Habitat of Greater Newark’s Corporate Challenge – a house sponsorship program that is helping to build a nine-home subdivision in Newark for Partner Families.
“Our employees are excited to be helping not only the city of Newark as a whole, but in particular, the nine deserving families who will eventually live in this subdivision.” said Brian Rowley, Vice President Marketing and Product Planning, Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, a division of Panasonic Corp. of North America.
“Panasonic is proud to be able to support and contribute to the community and we value the positive role our company can play with this effort,” he added. “We are even more excited to have the opportunity to work in the South Ward, an area of our city which has become a main priority for revitalization.”
Jeffrey J. Farrell, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark explained that the Panasonic employees are helping to build homes to provide quality housing for hard-working families.
“It is only through the generous commitment and partnership with area corporations that we can help families achieve home ownership,” Farrell said. “We are thrilled that Panasonic Corporation of North America is one of our corporate partners; we warmly welcome the employees to the build. It is a rewarding day they will remember and cherish for a long time.”
Whole Foods
In addition to Panasonic, Habitat also welcomed Whole Foods Market as a new Corporate Partner. Whole Foods Market selected Habitat because of the non-profit’s long-standing service and reputation in the community.
“Whole Foods Market is pleased to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark and to support their valued mission in Newark,” said Milena Caraballo, Whole Foods Market’s Metro Marketing Lead for Essex County. “With a focus on Healthy Homes, supporting this partnership was a perfect endeavor.”
On January 11th Whole Foods Market held its “5% Day,” in which 5 percent of the net sales from three local stores were donated to Habitat of Greater Newark. The event was a huge success and raised more than $13,000!
“This is an incredible partnership with Whole Foods Market and we appreciate this tremendous opportunity to generate additional funds for our Healthy Homes Initiative,” said Farrell. “Habitat for Humanity focuses not just on healthy living, but on healthy eating. We want to improve every aspect of life. Through the generous support of Whole Foods Market, we can make that happen in 2017.”
