Construction has begun on the largest Habitat Newark project to date, Harmony Point: the development of 23 homes located around 100 Hawthorne Avenue in Newark’s South Ward. Phase One of “Harmony Point” – now under construction – includes three, three-family condo units, available in two- and three-bedroom layouts.
“This is a historic and proud moment for Habitat Newark,” said Jeffrey Farrell, Executive Director of Habitat Newark. “Undertaking our largest construction project in our organization’s almost 30 year history, we are able to help more families than ever. We are thankful to our many volunteers and donors for helping us get to this point. If you would like to support Habitat for Humanity Newark and get involved in providing decent, affordable housing in Newark and Essex County, please contact our office.”
Immensely proud to be closing on our first Veterans Initiative home, we are looking forward to partnering with as many veterans as we can at Harmony Point, and we welcome volunteers and sponsors to get involved with our Veterans Initiative work.
The Harmony Point complex is designed to reflect the neighborhood and the community as a whole. Together we are making a tremendous difference in the neighborhood and in the lives of so many of its families. In the coming months, Habitat Newark will be welcoming back dedicated and hard-working volunteer teams as well as seeking new corporate partners, faith-based groups, and individuals that will provide volunteer manpower to build Harmony Point, as well as support the project with financial sponsorship.
