A Righteous Build with the Scarlet Raiders
The Rutgers University-Newark Academic Foundation Center (AFC) sent eager and capable faculty and student volunteer teams to build with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark in 2014, thanks to the leadership of Upward Bound Director Yanett Salazar Bagce and Senior Counselor Carl Milton.
Sol Iustitiae et Occidentem Illustra: Rutgers University-Newark’s motto, “Sun of righteousness, shine upon the West also,” is today interpreted as a request for the enlightenment of learning to shine equally upon the New World. The AFC’s mission is to provide underrepresented students with academic opportunities, resources, and support programs so they can accomplish their educational goals and achieve success beyond the classroom. Habitat of Greater Newark is proud to be a partner in this academic support program.
Habitat of Greater Newark welcomes high school and university groups to our build sites. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Note that youth ages 16 and 17 are not permitted to use power tools, and must be accompanied by an adult.
