Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark has been building homes in Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties since 1986 and has been able to help over 113 families become home owners in our community.

Partner Family member Marie and her children outside their new home in Harmony Point, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark’s high-impact condominium development in Newark.

Today, our projects include not only homebuilding but also our Critical Repair and Healthy Homes Initiative and our Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

We are currently working on a home at 80 Sheridan Street in Irvington. In 2022 we will also begin construction on another six units in our high-impact condominium development in Newark, Harmony Point.

Bank of America volunteers at a Critical Repair project on Armstrong Avenue in Jersey City.

Through our Critical Repair and Healthy Homes Initiative, we will also perform repair work such as providing rehabilitation, home repairs and home preservation. Through repairs such as mold and asbestos remediation, energy-conserving improvements, and the addition of aging-in-place functionality, Habitat of Greater Newark works to keep low income families, seniors, and veterans in their homes.
