Who We Are: Habitat of Greater Newark, founded in 1986, is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to building simple, decent homes for low income families in Essex & Union Counties. Using volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat of Greater Newark has helped many achieve the dream of homeownership.
What We Do: Habitat of Greater Newark has completed nearly 100 homes in Newark and other communities in Essex County. Hardworking, qualified Partner Families make a “sweat equity” down payment of up to 200 hours of labor.
